Facial Implants are surgical procedures made by the Plastic Surgeon in order to enhance or modify some facial angles and give the patient a more juvenile aspect.
The most common implants are the malars, chin, nasal (pyramidal cavity) and in very special cases, nasal implants to enlarge the back part.Implants are elaborated in different materials, being the most common silicone and osteo-integrates.
Their placement is quite simple; the patient can have implants as an isolated procedure or together with other surgeries like a Face Lift. When it is made as an isolated procedure, the surgery is ambulatory surgery but requires post-surgical cares to avoid complications with the implants. These complications might involve infection, bruising or the implants moving, although with the osteo-integrates this last one is not very feasible since they are screwed to the bone.
Each case will be studied individually and if there is need, the surgeon will suggest the patient the best surgical alternative for him/her.
